On this date, Pancake Robotics officially began!
We are a student-led robotics team based at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Alford, UK, competing at FTC-UK competitions!
After the group got together on the 1st of October, we realised we would need a logo for our Youtube Channel and other social media platforms. Harry Herring, head of the design department, created our mascot "Chef Noah", which has become an iconic symbol for our team.
Eventually we had to face the fact that our team name "Pancake Robotics" would lead to a lot of pancake-related puns.
This led to our 2024/5 season robot being named "Pam Cakes". We decided that we should make it a tradition to name our robots after pancake-related puns!
The time had come to show off all our hard work at the FTC UK & Ireland competition!
Our team arrived at the venue (Sheffield-Hallam Uni), filled with excitement and a bit of nervousness. After a few setbacks (namely needing to file down part of our robot, as it exceeded size limits), we were ready to compete.
We played 5 matches in total, winning 2 of them! Overall this placed us in 10th place! This was an amazing achievement for our first competition, and we can't wait to improve even further in the 2025/6 season!
The new FTC UK & Ireland season, FIRST AGE, has officially begun!
We are excited to start designing and building our new robot for this season, and can't wait to see what challenges and opportunities it brings!
It had reached that time of the season yet again.
Once again our team arrived at Sheffield-Hallam Uni, and we were ready to compete.
We played 5 matches in total, overall placing 10th, the same position as last year! Although we didn't improve on our performance, we still learnt a lot for next year!
As the season comes to an end, it's time to say goodbye to our team members.
This time is a sad one - after today, only one of the original members will remain.
Saying goodbye is hard, but it is necessary. New members will be brought in for next season to fill the vacant roles.
The 3 that are leaving have been an amazing part of our team, and we are so grateful for all the hard work they have put in. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours, and hope to see them again soon!
Below are what they will be doing after leaving the team:
Harry: Is going to university to study Media Production. Will still be working on this website in their free time.
Jack: Is going to university to study Computer Science.
Caiden: Is going to college.
